President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions today with President Aleksandr Grigorievich Lukashenko during his official visit to Belarus.
The meeting will take place at the Presidential Palace in Minsk and will be followed by a high-level engagement involving officials from both countries. The two sides are also expected to sign four memoranda of understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation in various sectors.
President Mahama is concluding a five-day state visit to Belarus, undertaken at the invitation of President Lukashenko. As part of his final engagements, he will address a Ghana-Belarus Business Forum at the Presidential Hotel in Minsk.
The forum will bring together key Ghanaian stakeholders, including representatives from the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, as well as members of the private sector.
The visit is focused on expanding cooperation between Ghana and Belarus in areas such as agriculture, trade, technology, and economic development.
Over the weekend, President Mahama toured Savushkin Product, one of Belarus’s largest agro-processing firms, to gain insights into the country’s agricultural and food-processing capabilities.
He also visited the Belagro Agricultural Exhibition, where he was introduced to a wide range of agricultural machinery, mechanisation technologies, food-processing equipment, and other innovations in the farming sector.
Accompanying the President on the trip are his Advisor and Special Aide, Joyce Bawah Mogtari; Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa; Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku; Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Stan Xoese Dogbe; and Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, Shamima Muslim.
The visit is expected to deepen bilateral relations and create new opportunities for investment, agricultural collaboration, and technical cooperation between Ghana and Belarus.
