England and Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has hailed Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus for his exceptional displays at Tottenham Hotspur in the ongoing Premier League season.
Since completing a £55 million switch from West Ham United to North London, Kudus has been in outstanding form, directly contributing to five goals — scoring once and assisting four.
In Tottenham’s recent match against Leeds United, the 24-year-old played a crucial role once again, providing a precise through ball for Mathys Tel, who converted with a stunning 20-yard strike in the 23rd minute. Kudus later capped off his performance with a composed finish in the 57th minute to restore Spurs’ lead.
Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day, Rooney couldn’t hide his admiration for the Ghanaian international’s impact.
“He’s been a real breath of fresh air. Looking at today’s stats, he’s leading in almost every key metric — duels won, successful dribbles, shots, touches in the opposition box, sprints. He’s made a massive difference to Tottenham this season,” Rooney said.
“He’s already got four assists, which is among the highest in the league, and his dribbling numbers are phenomenal. The only thing missing was a goal — and that strike today could really lift his confidence to another level.”
Kudus’ blend of creativity, pace, and technical ability has quickly made him a fan favourite, with pundits describing him as one of the standout signings of the Premier League season.
