Can Hearts and Kotoko Rediscover Winning Formula?

The Ghana Premier League enters matchday 28 with tension mounting at both ends of the table. With seven games remaining in the 2025/26 season, every point is crucial for title contenders and relegation-threatened sides alike.

Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, tied on 43 points and six behind leaders Medeama SC, are under pressure to revive form. Hearts, winless in five league matches, return to the Accra Sports Stadium to face Young Apostles. Coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani must restore attacking fluidity and defensive discipline if the Phobians are to keep their title hopes alive.

Kotoko face a similar challenge, scoring in only one of their last four matches. The Porcupine Warriors host FC Samartex at the Baba Yara Stadium on Easter Monday, relying on top scorer Albert Amoah and foreign forwards Samba O’Neil and Morifing Donzo to reignite their campaign.

At the top, Medeama SC visit a resurgent Bechem United, with the prolific Augustine Okrah key to the home side’s hopes. Defending champions Gold Stars host Nations FC at Dun’s Park, seeking to maintain pressure on Medeama while safeguarding their unbeaten home record.

At the other end, the relegation battle intensifies. Berekum Chelsea, Swedru All Blacks, Hearts of Lions, and other struggling sides face high-stakes matches that could determine their survival in the top flight.

With key fixtures looming, this weekend could prove decisive for both the title race and the fight to avoid the drop.
