Ghana is set to host the President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, for a three-day state visit from April 1 to April 3, 2026, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
According to a statement from the Presidency, President Mnangagwa will be received at the Accra International Airport by John Dramani Mahama with full military honours, including a guard of honour mounted by the Ghana Armed Forces and a 21-gun salute.
As part of the official programme, President Mahama will host a state banquet in honour of his guest, reflecting the longstanding diplomatic ties between Ghana and Zimbabwe.
A major highlight of the visit will be bilateral talks at Peduase Lodge, following a private meeting between the two leaders. Discussions are expected to focus on key areas such as trade, tourism, agriculture, healthcare, sanitation, anti-corruption efforts, and job creation.
The visit is also expected to result in the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding to enhance cooperation across sectors of mutual interest.
During his stay, President Mnangagwa will tour strategic institutions, including the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre and the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant, where he will be briefed on developments in healthcare delivery and waste management.
In a symbolic gesture, he will also visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to lay a wreath at the tomb of Kwame Nkrumah, honouring Ghana’s founding leader. President Mnangagwa is expected to depart on April 3 with full departure honours at the Jubilee Lounge, bringing the visit to a close.
The visit is anticipated to further strengthen diplomatic relations between Accra and Harare while opening new avenues for cooperation in an evolving global environment.
