NDC Presidential Race: Haruna Iddrisu Leads as Asiedu Nketia Closes Gap – Global Info Analytics

A new Global Info Analytics poll shows Haruna Iddrisu leading the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential race with 30% support, while Johnson Asiedu Nketia follows closely with 24%.

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson placed third with 18%, ahead of Julius Debrah (10%), Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (8%), and Eric Opoku (2%). Joshua Alabi, Armah Kofi-Buah, and Kwame Awuah-Darko each secured 2%, while Spio Garbrah polled 1% and Okoe Vanderpuije received no support.

In a simulated three-way race excluding Dr. Forson, Haruna’s support climbed to 45%, with Asiedu Nketia at 37% and Julius Debrah at 18%. Among NDC voters, Haruna maintained 47%, Asiedu Nketia 39%, and Julius Debrah 14%. In swing regions, Haruna polled 48%, compared to Asiedu Nketia’s 37% and Julius Debrah’s 15%.

When Haruna was excluded, Asiedu Nketia narrowly led with 40%, followed by Ato Forson (38%) and Julius Debrah (22%). Among NDC voters, the race tightened further, with Asiedu Nketia at 42%, Ato Forson 41%, and Julius Debrah 17%. In swing regions, Ato Forson topped with 47%, compared to Asiedu Nketia’s 38% and Julius Debrah’s 15%.

Meanwhile, for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the poll shows former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia holding a commanding lead with 47% delegate support. His closest challenger, Kennedy Agyapong, continues to struggle to convert undecided delegates.

Although Dr. Bawumia currently dominates, analysts note that a large bloc of undecided delegates could still shift the dynamics. Both the NDC and NPP primaries will be pivotal in shaping Ghana’s 2028 general elections.
