Over 600 Students Benefit from Jomoro MP’s Scholarship Scheme

More than 600 brilliant but financially challenged students from 111 public and private schools in the Jomoro Constituency have benefited from the Member of Parliament’s (MP) Scholarship Initiative, designed to promote equal access to quality education.

The ceremony, held at Bonyere Junction, drew chiefs and queen mothers, constituency executives, security personnel, parents, and hundreds of students, all gathered to celebrate the life-changing support extended to young learners.

Now in its second edition, the scholarship programme underscores the MP’s sustained dedication to education, empowerment, and social inclusion. It aims to remove financial barriers that often prevent bright students from advancing academically.

Addressing the gathering, the MP for Jomoro and Deputy Minister for Transport, Dorcas Toffey, reaffirmed her belief in education as a key instrument for development and poverty reduction. She said investing in young people’s education is essential to building the constituency’s future and closing the inequality gap.

“Education is the surest path to empowerment and progress,” she emphasized. “As long as I serve, I will continue to support the dreams of our young people and ensure that no child is left behind because of financial hardship.”

Traditional leaders, led by the Paramount Chief and the Jomoro Traditional Council, praised the MP for her continued commitment to improving educational outcomes in the constituency. They also encouraged parents to motivate their children to make the most of the opportunity provided.

The event was also attended by the Western Regional Minister, Regional Chairman, and other dignitaries, who commended the initiative as an example of leadership grounded in service, empathy, and community development.

The scholarship initiative is expected to bring lasting relief to many households by easing the financial pressures of schooling, reducing dropout rates, and opening up greater opportunities for academic success. For numerous families in Jomoro, it represents renewed hope and a brighter, more equitable future.
