President John Dramani Mahama has hosted the University for Development Studies (UDS) football team at the Jubilee House to celebrate their historic triumph at the 2025 FISU World University Games.
The visit recognised UDS’s outstanding performance on the international stage — a milestone that brought pride to Ghana’s sports and tertiary education sectors.
President Mahama commended the team for their hard work, discipline, and commitment to excellence, describing their victory as a reflection of Ghanaian resilience and talent. He also emphasized the need for sustained investment in youth and sports development to nurture future champions.
In recognition of their achievement, the President presented the University with a cash prize of GH¢500,000.
UDS clinched the title after defeating defending champions Paulista University of Brazil 2–1 in extra time — a thrilling finale that captivated sports fans across Africa.
