Sports Minister Kofi Iddie Adams has called for stronger collaboration between Ghana and the United Kingdom ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Speaking at the 2026 Commonwealth Games Business Forum hosted by the British High Commission, he said the event presents opportunities for partnerships in areas such as infrastructure, sports science, tourism and youth development. He cited the Borteyman Sports Complex as an example of successful collaboration, while noting challenges in facility management and calling for knowledge transfer to build local capacity.

The minister also urged early preparation for the Games, encouraging sporting federations to intensify training to boost Ghana’s performance.

Deputy British High Commissioner Keith McMahon highlighted the Games as a platform to drive investment and cooperation, noting Ghana’s strong record in sports like boxing and athletics. He reaffirmed the UK’s readiness to support Ghana by sharing expertise from past editions, including Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Meanwhile, John Apea of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council emphasised the economic potential of the Games, noting that the 2026 edition is expected to attract significant investment and business opportunities.
