John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Lyon to take part in the One Health Summit, where he will co-chair a high-level session alongside Emmanuel Macron.

The summit is bringing together global leaders, health officials, and experts to discuss major issues such as strengthening health systems, ensuring sustainable food production, and improving responses to emerging health threats.

Mahama, who founded the Accra Reset Initiative, is expected to play a key role in the discussions. He will deliver two keynote speeches, the first during a session on global health systems co-led by Macron and Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus of the World Health Organization. That meeting will focus on reforming global health structures and is likely to adopt a political declaration to boost international cooperation.

His second address will open the summit’s high-level segment for heads of state, where he will present Ghana’s position and commitments on global health security.

Following the summit, Mahama is scheduled to travel to Paris on April 8 for an official visit. At the Élysée Palace, he will hold bilateral talks with Macron focused on strengthening ties between Ghana and France, including collaboration in health, education, trade, investment, and regional security.

Before that meeting, he will also be received by Gérard Larcher at the French Senate.

Mahama was welcomed on arrival in Lyon by members of the Ghanaian community who gathered to receive him on Easter Monday. He is expected to return to Accra after completing his engagements in France.
