GRA Assures Continuous Tax and Customs Operations Amid Heavy Rains

The Ghana Revenue Authority has advised businesses and taxpayers to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as persistent heavy rains continue to affect Accra and other parts of the country, with weather forecasts indicating the likelihood of additional rainfall in the coming days.

The Authority noted that adverse weather conditions can disrupt transportation networks, delay the movement of goods, and create operational challenges for businesses striving to meet customer demands and regulatory obligations.

To reduce the impact of these disruptions, the GRA stated that its teams stationed at ports, border entry points, and Taxpayer Service Centres have implemented measures to ensure that critical Customs and Domestic Tax services remain operational.

According to the Authority, maintaining the smooth flow of trade, minimizing unnecessary interruptions, and safeguarding revenue generation for national development remain key priorities during this period.

The GRA encouraged businesses to prepare adequately by taking advantage of its digital platforms, allowing extra time for transportation and logistics activities, and placing the safety and wellbeing of employees above all other considerations.

Emphasising the importance of safety, the Authority stated that no commercial activity should take precedence over the protection of human lives.

The GRA also extended its best wishes to taxpayers and urged the public to remain alert and follow directives issued by weather and emergency management agencies as the rainy conditions continue.
