Richard Ahiagbah, Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has criticised the rising cost of living in Ghana, saying it is placing significant strain on citizens under the administration of John Dramani Mahama.
In a post shared on his X page, Ahiagbah pointed to increasing fuel prices as a major driver of economic hardship. He noted that higher transport costs are having a knock-on effect, pushing up the prices of goods and services across the country.
He argued that many Ghanaians are struggling, while accusing supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) of downplaying the situation.
Ahiagbah also accused the NDC of inconsistency, recalling how the party had sharply criticised fuel price hikes during the tenure of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He questioned why similar challenges are now being attributed to global factors under the current administration.
He further highlighted how rising transport fares are affecting everyday essentials, including sachet water, making life more difficult for ordinary citizens.
Ahiagbah called on the government to demonstrate honesty and provide relief measures, stressing that Ghanaians deserve consistent policies and accountability in addressing economic challenges.
