Coaching Black Stars is the ‘biggest challenge’ and ‘I am ready’ – Carlos Queiroz

Newly appointed Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has described managing the Ghana national football team as the biggest challenge of his coaching career, while insisting he is ready to deliver results.

The 73-year-old was officially unveiled on a short-term four-month contract, replacing Otto Addo and taking charge until the end of the FIFA World Cup.

Queiroz, who has coached several national teams over his four-decade career, said he has less than 50 days to prepare the team for the global tournament, following a difficult run of four consecutive defeats under his predecessor.

He described the opportunity as a privilege, saying he has already begun to feel the passion surrounding the Black Stars.

According to him, the expectations tied to Ghana’s national team are immense, given its history and support base, and he is prepared to meet them with experience gained over 40 years in coaching international football.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L of the World Cup, where they will face England national football team, Croatia national football team, and Panama national football team.

The Black Stars are aiming to reach the knockout stage of the tournament for the first time since their memorable quarter-final run in 2010.
