TTAG presses for swift teacher recruitment action after petition reaches Education Ministry.

The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana has called on the government to take urgent steps to resolve delays in teacher recruitment, after its petition was officially referred to the Ministry of Education Ghana.

In a statement issued on April 28, the Association confirmed receiving communication from the Office of the President Ghana, dated April 21, 2026, indicating that its concerns had been acknowledged and forwarded to the Education Ministry for action.

While TTAG welcomed the referral, it emphasized that the move must lead to prompt and concrete results rather than prolonged administrative processes.

The Association warned that the situation facing trained teachers has reached a critical stage, with thousands of qualified graduates still awaiting postings due to persistent delays. It noted that the uncertainty is causing significant hardship for affected individuals and requires immediate intervention.

TTAG further revealed that it has exhausted available engagement channels in good faith and is now seeking high-level discussions with both the President and the Minister for Education. These talks, it said, will aim to secure clear timelines, firm commitments, and practical steps toward resolving the issue.

The group cautioned that patience among teacher trainees is running out and signaled that it may consider additional actions if the delays continue.

Reaffirming its stance, TTAG stressed its commitment to pursuing a fair and timely resolution, highlighting the broader impact of the situation on Ghana’s education sector.
