Tullow Oil has commenced direct crude oil sales from Ghana’s offshore Jubilee and Tweneboa, Enyenra, and Ntomme (TEN) fields to domestic processing facilities, marking a strategic shift toward strengthening local refining capacity and energy security.
The energy firm revealed that its initial cargo offloading was delivered to the Sentuo Oil Refinery earlier this year, establishing the private facility as a primary buyer of locally produced crude alongside exports. The commercial transaction underscores an expanding effort by offshore field operators to supply domestic processors, reducing reliance on imported crude feedstocks for national consumption.
The commercial development comes as Tullow projects an increase in its overall crude lifting volumes for the year. Industry analysts view the domestic supply arrangement as a critical step toward maximizing in-country value retention, improving supply chain efficiency across the downstream energy sector, and fostering industrial synergies within Ghana’s petroleum market.
