Two Nurses Granted Bail Over Missing Newborn Case at Salaga Hospital

Two nurses accused in connection with the alleged disappearance of a newborn baby at the Salaga Government Hospital in the Savannah Region have been granted bail by the Tamale Circuit Court.

The court, presided over by Her Honour Afua Srakubea Agyeman-Darbu, set bail at GH¢150,000 each with two sureties. The accused persons are facing charges of conspiracy and abduction and are expected to reappear before the court on July 9, 2026.

The case relates to an incident at the hospital in which a newborn reportedly went missing under unclear circumstances, prompting police investigations and raising concern among family members and residents. The baby’s mother is said to be deeply distressed and has called for urgent efforts to locate her child.

Following initial investigations, the two nurses were arrested and subsequently arraigned before the court.

The Administrator of the Salaga Government Hospital, Mr. Aloysius Bakuma, confirmed that the facility is cooperating fully with the police as investigations continue.

Authorities have not yet provided further updates on the whereabouts of the missing newborn as inquiries remain ongoing.
