You Have Become a Unifying Figure for the NPP – Afoko Told During Savannah Visit

Aspiring National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Awentami Paul Afoko, received a warm reception during a consultative meeting with party leaders in the Savannah Region, where many described him as a symbol of unity and resilience within the party.

The gathering, held at the party’s regional secretariat in Damongo, brought together regional executives, council members, and party patrons. The engagement quickly evolved from a routine political consultation into a discussion centered on reconciliation, party rebuilding, and preparations for the 2028 general elections.

Several party officials praised Afoko’s decision to contest the national chairmanship position, describing his return to frontline politics as both timely and beneficial for the party. One regional executive remarked that Afoko’s experiences over the years had transformed him into a powerful symbol of unity for the NPP, while others described his comeback as a positive development for the party.

Participants reflected on Afoko’s political journey, from serving as National Chairman between 2014 and 2015 to stepping away from active leadership before returning with a renewed vision for the party. They said his ability to remain committed to the NPP despite past challenges demonstrates the party’s capacity to overcome internal difficulties and emerge stronger.

Some executives noted that his perseverance and calm approach had encouraged many members to move beyond old grievances and focus on rebuilding the party. They also described him as an example of patience and resilience, highlighting his continued connection with grassroots supporters even during his absence from the political spotlight.

Addressing the gathering, Afoko outlined his “3R” agenda—Reunite, Rebuild, and Recapture—stressing that party unity must be accompanied by a clear strategy for regaining political power.

He urged party members in the region to strengthen polling station structures, improve voter data management, and intensify grassroots mobilization well ahead of the election season.

According to Afoko, the NPP has historically demonstrated an ability to recover from setbacks and return stronger, adding that disciplined organization at the regional level would be crucial to reclaiming government in 2028.

He described the next election as a critical opportunity for the party to regain power from the National Democratic Congress, restore confidence in party structures, and ensure that all regions feel adequately represented and involved.

The meeting concluded with strong expressions of support from attendees, many of whom wished him success in his bid for the chairmanship position.

The Savannah Region visit forms part of Afoko’s broader nationwide engagement campaign as he seeks support for the NPP national chairmanship race. His message throughout the tour has remained consistent: strengthen the party from the grassroots level and work collectively toward victory in 2028.
