FIFA World Cup 2026 preparations are taking shape as TRiBE Culture Fest advances its “16 BY 16” and “Ghana Funfest” initiatives aimed at delivering a global fan experience across Ghana and key diaspora cities.
The organisation has conducted extensive reconnaissance visits across selected venues in Ghana, the United States, and Canada to prepare for large-scale public viewing and cultural activation events during the tournament.
In North America, the team assessed diaspora-heavy cities including Philadelphia, Providence, and Newark in the United States, as well as Toronto in Canada, which has been identified as a major hub for Ghanaian fan engagement.
In Ghana, inspections were carried out at major sites such as the Accra Sports Stadium, Black Star Square, Premier Keep Fit Club, and areas in Tema. Other locations included the Cape Coast Sports Stadium and the Centre for National Culture in Cape Coast.
In Kumasi, the team visited Baba Yara Sports Stadium and Rattray Park, while additional assessments were conducted in Koforidua at Jackson’s Park, along with exploratory visits in the Volta and Oti Regions.
The planned fan zones are expected to host live match screenings, football clinics, music performances, cultural exhibitions, and food experiences designed to showcase Ghanaian identity throughout the tournament.
CEO of TRiBE Culture Fest, Nana Boateng Gyimah, said the exercise goes beyond venue selection and focuses on building meaningful community-driven experiences.
He noted that the goal is to create shared spaces where Ghanaians at home and abroad can connect and celebrate the World Cup together, regardless of location.
The initiative also forms part of broader efforts to position Ghana as a cultural and tourism destination while strengthening ties with its global diaspora during one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
