Otto Addo named to FIFA Technical Study Group for 2026 World Cup

Former Ghana national team coach Otto Addo has been appointed to FIFA’s Technical Study Group for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

FIFA announced the appointment on June 11, 2026, stating that the group will provide technical and tactical analysis throughout the expanded 48-team tournament, which will feature 104 matches.

Addo joins a panel of football experts that includes former Germany coach Jürgen Klinsmann, former Brazil international Gilberto Silva, former Argentina defender Pablo Zabaleta, former United States star Tobin Heath, and Denmark coach Jon Dahl Tomasson.

The group will operate under the supervision of former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger, who serves as FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, while Pascal Zuberbühler will head the panel.

According to FIFA, the Technical Study Group will analyse all matches using live data, video technology, and performance metrics from analysis hubs in Miami, Dallas and Manchester.

The team will also contribute to selecting individual tournament award winners and help identify tactical trends in modern football.

FIFA also announced the introduction of an enhanced analytics system called Enhanced Football Intelligence, which will provide real-time tactical insights, augmented reality visuals, and performance graphics for broadcasters and fans.

For the first time, supporters will be able to access live tactical analysis directly from the Technical Study Group through FIFA’s digital platforms.

Addo, who earned 15 caps for Ghana as a player, previously coached the Black Stars in two spells between 2022 and 2026.
