Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has highlighted a range of initiatives being implemented to expand digital learning and improve access to quality education, particularly for students in underserved and remote communities.
Addressing Parliament on June 18, 2026, the Minister said the Ministry of Education, through the Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS), is enhancing digital education through the deployment of the iBox platform, interactive educational technologies, and offline learning solutions for schools with limited or no internet connectivity.
According to Mr. Iddrisu, the iBox system is currently benefiting more than 120,000 students across 240 Senior High Schools nationwide. He added that additional programmes are being introduced to strengthen digital literacy, improve teaching and learning outcomes, and support students preparing for national examinations.
The Minister explained that these interventions form part of the government’s broader strategy to bridge the digital divide and ensure equitable access to educational resources for learners across the country.
He emphasized that the initiatives are aimed at providing students with the skills and tools needed to succeed in an increasingly technology-driven world, regardless of their geographical location.
