NRSA to Auction Vehicles of Non-Subscribers Who Fail to Pay Towing Charges Within 21 Days

The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has announced stringent enforcement measures, warning that vehicles impounded or involved in breakdowns belonging to non-subscribers who fail to settle mandatory towing and administrative charges within 21 days will be put up for public auction.

Under the enhanced operational guidelines, the authority aims to curb the persistent hazards posed by abandoned and disabled vehicles on major highways and urban thoroughfares across the country. NRSA officials emphasized that compliance with the national towing service scheme remains a legal obligation for all motorists, noting that unremoved broken-down vehicles continue to contribute significantly to preventable nighttime collisions and fatal traffic accidents.

Transport operators and vehicle owners failing to clear accumulated towing fees and impoundment costs within the stipulated 21-day window will forfeit ownership rights as the authority initiates legal auction procedures to recover operational expenses. Stakeholders in the transport sector have been urged to regularize their subscription statuses and ensure strict adherence to road safety regulations to avoid punitive financial losses and legal penalties.
