Baba Rahman, Mumin and Ernest Nuamah Return to Black Stars Provisional Squad for 2026 World Cup Preparations

Ghana national football team head coach Carlos Queiroz has announced a 28-man provisional squad for the team’s World Cup preparation camp and upcoming international friendly against Wales national football team in Cardiff.

The squad includes five goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders, and seven attackers.

The Black Stars began training camp on Monday, May 25, 2026, at Dragon Park in Cardiff as they prepare for the friendly match scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Among the notable inclusions is defender Baba Abdul Rahman, who returns to the national team for the first time since September 2023 after delivering strong performances for PAOK FC. The former Chelsea FC left-back has made 35 appearances this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists.

Winger Ernest Nuamah has also returned to the squad after nearly a year out due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The Olympique Lyonnais player is now fully fit following his long recovery period.

Other players making their return include defender Abdul Mumin of Rayo Vallecano, who is also recovering from a lengthy ACL injury absence, as well as midfielder Augustine Boakye of AS Saint-Étienne and defender Alidu Seidu from Stade Rennais FC.

The squad also features 20-year-old Paul Reverson from AFC Ajax, who has been invited for further assessment after impressing with Ajax’s youth team in the Netherlands.

The team is preparing not only for the Wales friendly but also for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Ghana are scheduled to begin their Group L campaign against Panama national football team in Toronto before facing England national football team in Boston and Croatia national football team in Philadelphia.
