Officials of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (Mahama Cares) have held discussions with the management of Media General, led by Group Chief Executive Officer Beatrice Agyemang, to explore a potential media partnership aimed at promoting healthcare awareness and support initiatives.
The meeting, which took place at Media General’s headquarters in Accra on June 23, focused on areas of collaboration that would help raise awareness about the Trust Fund and its role in supporting Ghanaians seeking specialised medical treatment.
Representatives of the Fund noted that its mission aligns closely with Media General’s public service and health-focused programmes. They explained that the initiative seeks to help patients access specialised healthcare services within Ghana by making use of local medical facilities and expertise, reducing the need for treatment abroad.
The discussions also underscored the role of the media in connecting patients with healthcare providers and available support systems, ensuring that more people are informed about opportunities for medical assistance.
Media General’s leadership expressed interest in the initiative and recognised the importance of educating the public on non-communicable diseases and access to quality healthcare services.
As part of the next steps, Media General requested a formal partnership proposal from the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, detailing the specific areas of collaboration. The proposal is expected to be submitted by Friday and will be reviewed by management before feedback is provided.
Both organisations are expected to continue engagements towards establishing a strategic partnership focused on public education, awareness creation, beneficiary stories, and resource mobilisation to support healthcare delivery in Ghana.
