The Ministry of Education has announced that more than 7,000 teachers across Ghana have undergone specialized training in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), as well as Artificial Intelligence education. The training programme forms part of government’s broader strategy to equip students with modern digital skills required in today’s technology-driven world.
Officials say the initiative is intended to prepare teachers to handle emerging subjects such as coding, robotics, machine learning, and basic AI concepts in schools. The ministry explained that integrating technology into the education system will improve innovation, creativity, and problem-solving among students.
According to education authorities, the revised curriculum for basic and secondary schools will gradually introduce more technology-related subjects to align Ghana’s education system with global trends. Some pilot schools have already begun implementing practical STEM-based learning activities.
The Ministry believes the programme will help bridge the digital skills gap and position Ghanaian students to compete effectively in the international job market.
