SSNIT’s Stake in Société Générale Rises to 24.36% to Support Pension Asset Growth

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has increased its equity stake in Société Générale Ghana to 24.36 percent, reinforcing its commitment to strategic investments that safeguard and grow national pension assets.

The institutional shareholding expansion reflects SSNIT’s broader asset allocation strategy aimed at securing sustainable, long-term returns through high-performing financial sector equities. By increasing its stake in the multinational banking subsidiary, the Trust seeks to optimize portfolio returns, strengthen corporate governance participation, and align pension fund investments with robust, well-regulated domestic financial institutions.

Financial analysts view the transaction as a strategic vote of confidence in Ghana’s commercial banking industry and its broader financial services ecosystem. SSNIT leadership maintained that the enlarged position will enhance dividend income and yield steady capital appreciation, ultimately protecting the value of contributor funds while supporting local economic development.
