Former Asante Kotoko Board Chairman, Herbert Mensah, has shared his views on the Ghana national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing the team’s past achievements as having come in spite of long-standing administrative weaknesses.
Speaking on Luv FM, he acknowledged the quality of newly appointed head coach Carlos Queiroz, calling him an experienced tactician despite a mixed record at the World Cup level.
Queiroz is expected to lead the Black Stars into the expanded 48-team tournament, with Ghana set to face England, Croatia, and Panama in the group stage. He has a limited window to prepare the squad ahead of the competition.
Mensah noted that while the Black Stars have historically managed to perform despite poor administrative structures, the current situation presents a more difficult challenge.
He pointed to concerns over preparation, team stability, leadership, and overall morale within the camp, stressing that these factors could influence Ghana’s chances at the tournament.
According to him, although the team has the potential to compete strongly, success will depend on proper organisation and internal cohesion as they prepare for the World Cup.
